Tennis Technique Improvement For Not New Tennis Players
Improving the tennis technique of someone who had some previous experience in tennis can be less obvious then someone who starts afresh. I think we have been stagnant at some point in a certain sport or a skill set. One of the hallmarks of a person that is worth admiring is the aspiration to be better at something. What spurs me on is when someone who has a certain level of tennis yet wants to improve on it genuinely.
It is also less stark a difference as one improves from say a 3.5 to a 4.0 NTRP rating then if it were to be from a fresh learner. This is because the curve of learning plateau more with a certain level of play and when smaller details need to be focused on in a person's game..
However, it may come across as boring to some to work on their warm up, their plyometrics or their other forms of exercises. It does go unnoticed because many of us simply love to dive straight to hitting the balls and seldom give much thought to other foundational skillsets that will carry into our tennis game.
Hiring a coach will help with understanding your game , motivate you to get started with some warm up, dynamic stretches and help to unleash your potential further. In other words, a change in mindset in approach to improvement of tennis techniques can be derived from a more holistic approach to tennis apart from just hitting balls.
While trying to improve on an existing level of skill , it usually is a matter of detail given how one might already be able to hit. These learners would definitely have a more satisfying hit versus some who may not give as much thought to their game. I guess it is also the case for any other thing in life!
Fun has to be a crucial ingredient of course while training, after all that's what we hope to get from our tennis fix weekly. Therefore, a mix of skills training and games would make a good session! I hope if you're reading this , do share your thoughts about your tennis improvement journey and who knows it might help someone to pick up a thing or two from your comments too.
